Under the supervision of a professional librarian, performs paraprofessional library services in a web-based library. Duties may include the following: cataloguing and classifying library material; providing interlibrary loan services; managing acquisitions, general reference, and copyright clearance; collection management; and circulation and serials management functions
The intent is to staff current and future vacancies and create a pool of qualified candidates that can be used to staff similar positions within the Department of National Defence. Location, linguistic and security profiles and/or requirements as well as tenures may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:
-Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in library/archival work, as well as graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree in the social science or humanities.
EXPERIENCE:
*Recent and **significant experience in using a major integrated library system such as SIRSIDYNIX SYMPHONY or EX LIBRIS
OR
*Recent and **significant experience in web product creation and maintenance in support of information services delivery.
Recent* refers to experience normally acquired within approximately the last four (4) years of work.
Significant** experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of approximately six (6) months.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
-Master’s degree in library science, or in library science and information science
-*Recent and significant** experience using web authoring tools;
-*Recent experience in management and supervision;
-*Recent experience contributing to a learning management system.

KNOWLEDGE:
-Knowledge of the principles and/or practices of library science in one of the areas of acquisitions, serials control, digital asset management, cataloguing and classification, as well as general reference.
