Located on historic Sparks Street and nestled in the hustle and bustle of the downtown core, the Privy Council Office (PCO) provides a great location close to parking and public transit.

In its role as the department supporting the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the PCO helps the government to implement its vision, goals and decisions in a timely manner. Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff the above-mentioned position(s). A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions within Privy Council Office with various language requirements, and various tenures. The pool of qualified candidates may also be open to other Government Departments.

EDUCATION

ED1 - Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Notes:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.

EXPERIENCE

EX1 - Recent* experience** providing technical services in at least one of the following areas:
• Application Testing
• Infrastructure/Operations
• IT Security
• IM/IT Business Analyst

EX2 - Recent* experience** working on or collaborating with others on IT projects or initiatives.

EX3 - Recent* experience** providing IM/IT advice and formulating recommendations to clients or co-workers.

EX4 - Experience** in providing IM/IT client support services or training.

Wherever “IM/IT” (Information Management (IM) / Information Technology (IT)) systems is indicated, it is to be interpreted as “IM or IT”.

Recent* experience refers to experience normally acquired within approximately the last five (5) years of work.

Experience** is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties on a regular basis for a period of approximately one (1) year. However, a shorter duration may be considered based on demonstrated complexity and diversity of work handled, scope of work, or level of direct responsibility for a wide variety of complex files or projects.

EXPERIENCE

AEX1 - Experience creating, configuring, testing, deploying application packages or patches to workstations or servers.

AEX2 - Recent* experience** providing technical support services and troubleshooting computer hardware or computer operating systems such as Windows 10.

AEX3 - Experience providing or supporting IT security risk assessment activities such as Threat and Risk Assessment, Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A), Vulnerability Assessment, Penetration Testing, etc.

AEX4 - Experience installing, configuring, supporting, testing or maintaining IT Security technical safeguards such as network firewalls, Security Information Event Management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection or prevention technologies in a corporate environment.

AEX5 - Experience in performing testing and quality assurance related activities such as unit, functional, integration or regression testing.

AEX6 - Recent* experience in service management processes and tools that support one or more of the following: incidents, problems, changes or releases activities or disciplines. (ITIL)

AEX7 - Recent* experience** performing business analyst functions (for example, planning, managing and facilitating requirements gathering activities, validating requirements, conducting business process analysis, developing and documenting business process, etc.).

AEX8 - Experience working with project teams and clients in preparing project deliverables (for example business cases, project charters, project plans, business requirements, status reports, etc.).

AEX9 - Experience working in the area of Communications Security (COMSEC)

AEX10 - Experience supporting IT Security incident management activities including identifying, detecting, responding, analysis, management and documenting.
