Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff one English essential position on an indeterminate basis.

A partially or fully assessed pool of candidates may also be created to be used to staff positions with various security requirements, various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, casual employment, assignment and secondment) and with various linguistic profiles (English essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC), as required at future dates within Transport Canada.

EDUCATION
ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

OR

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Note 1: Candidates will be asked to provide proof of education or eligibility for certification.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* and recent* experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.

*Significant is defined as having 5 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aeronautical industry.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last 10 years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Extensive* experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.

AEX2: Experience in managing or evaluating inputs related to the identification, evaluation and rectification of in-service airworthiness problems or airworthiness risk management.

AEX3: Experience in project management within a technical environment.

*Extensive is defined as having 10 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aeronautical industry.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required.

Conditions of employment

SECURITY
Various Requirements - Reliability and Secret security clearance. Most positions require a Secret security clearance. This factor is not used at the pre selection stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.
