In this role you will be relied on to provide advice, recommendations and vision to protect the organization’s employees, information and assets in the NCR and in the seven regions across Canada. This will be achieved through the development, implementation and maintenance of leading-edge tools, policies, practices and programs that effectively plan for and mitigate risks, provide employees with the appropriate level of awareness and training and that allow the organization to successfully respond to and recover from emergency related incidents. Achieving this important mandate also involves working closely with lead security agencies and government departments, first responders and other partners and stakeholders within and outside the department.
The Senior Security and Emergency Analyst is a key member of the Safety, Security and Emergency Management Division that reports to the Manager of Emergency management. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with a group of motivated professionals who support innovation and continuous improvement in the development and implementation of a framework to enable the organization to successfully prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency related incidents.
The immediate need is to staff one Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB position in Ottawa for an indeterminate period.
Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment first.
A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenures, various linguistic requirements, various operational requirements and/or various conditions of employment.

EDUCATION
ED1 - Successful completion of a two-year educational program from a recognized post-secondary institution in a specialty relevant to the position being staffed.
OR
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE
EX1 - Recent* and significant** experience in corporate programs*** in at least three (3) of the following eight (8) security controls:
a) Security screening
b) Physical security
c) Information technology security
d) Business continuity management
e) Information management security
f) Security event management
g) Security awareness and training
h) Security requirements associated with contracts and other arrangements
EX2 - Experience in developing corporate security, business continuity, or emergency management plans.
EX3 - Experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired approximately within the last five (5) years of work.
** Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities, normally acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.
*** Corporate program: Mid or large public organizations or private corporations with a well-defined corporate security program, structure and organization that is the business lead for identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining security processes across the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure to liability in all areas of financial, physical, and personal risk; establish appropriate standards and risk controls associated with employee protection, information security, asset protection, emergency management and response; and, the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures related to information technology security. Typically, such organizations exist in large Government Departments (Federal, Provincial, Territorial), large Municipalities, large corporations and public or private organizations with significant employee populations (1000+) or campus type settings (e.g. hospitals, colleges, universities, large manufacturing plants, utilities companies, banks).

**** Major projects are defined as mid to long-term (6 to 12 months) projects constituting multiple deliverables and coordination with various stakeholders.
KNOWLEDGE
AK1 - Knowledge of threat and risk assessment processes.
AK2 - Knowledge of accommodation practices and standards.
