Duties

The Technical Maintenance Planner Coordinator (TMPC) assists the Production Manager by producing reports and providing recommendations to management on a broad range of subjects. Position duties include Configuration Change implementation for planning and scheduling; Preventative Maintenance routines for Ship and shore Electronic Assets; and Corrective maintenance outage times and trend data analysis to ensure clients needs and expectations are being met. The TMPC may be called upon to participate and assist with Quality Assurance Audits. TMPC also manages the Ships Radio Inspection program and the training activities for the division.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma (High School) AND completion of *an acceptable training program in electronics technology or the **employer-approved alternative.

*An acceptable training program is defined as, at minimum, a two year program, through a recognized post-secondary institution, in the field of electronics technology.

**The employer–approved alternative is defined as completion of an electronics engineering technician program followed by a minimum of five (5) years of on-the-job technical training and experience in informatics, repairs and installation of modems, landlines, Navigational, Communication, Radars and/or Sonar equipment OR having achieved the Canadian Forces developmental period (DP) 2 in the field of communication, radar, sonar, or navigational systems.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in performing maintenance or installations of navigational, sensors or communication systems.

• Experience performing inspections of marine or land based electronic equipment used for navigation, communications or informatics.

• Experience providing advice, guidance or recommendations to supervisors, co-workers and clients regarding maintenance or installation issues of marine or land electronic equipment and systems used for navigation, communications and informatics.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in the delivery of life cycle management of marine or land electronic equipment and systems used for navigation, communications and informatics.

• Experience performing Quality Control and Quality Assurance on marine or land base electronic equipment.

• Experience using a financial management reporting system (e.g. SAP, MRS, Abacus, etc) to report on funds used.

• Experience drafting detailed technical reports on the health and monitoring of electronic equipment.

• Experience coordinating efforts between teams of technologists working in the field of Electronics and Informatics.

• Experience synthesizing and analyzing data related to maintenance or configuration issues of electronic systems and equipment.

• Recent* and significant** experience in the installation and/or maintenance of land based navigational equipment.

• Recent* and significant** experience in the installation and/or maintenance of land based communications equipment.

• Recent* and significant** experience in the installation and/or maintenance of Ship based navigational equipment.

• Recent* and significant** experience in installation and/or maintenance of ship based communications equipment.

*Recent is defined as experience acquired within the past five (5) years.

** Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of approximately (3) years.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Requirement to work in an operational environment, including the need to work overtime and weekends as required.
• Requirement to travel by various modes of transportation (e.g. boat, automobile, plane, helicopter, etc.) and perform work at remote sites and/or on vessels at sea.
• Requirement to travel for extended periods for general duties and for training purposes. Travel could be required outside your assigned work location.
• Requirement to obtain and maintain a Health Canada Scientific Personnel, Category 3, Medical.
• Not be susceptible claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces), vertigo or fear of heights, climbing towers and ships mast.
