Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar ENG-03 positions at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) with various tenures (determinate or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Mechanical or Building Engineering or some other engineering speciality relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Recent * and significant ** experience in the design of building mechanical engineering projects or operation and maintenance of building energy consuming systems.

Recent * and significant ** experience in the analysis and assessment or implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings.

* Recent experience refers to experience acquired in a workplace within the last 8 years

** Significant experience refers to at least 5 years experience in a work place or at least 4 years expérience in a work place plus a Master or PhD degree in Mechanical or Building Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Master's Degree in Building Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution

Degree equivalency

Eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Canada

Experience in communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, etc.
Experience with energy simulating and modelling software for mechanical systems (e.g., CANQUEST, eQUEST, Open Studio,TRNSYS, Matlab, EnergyPlus)
Experience in Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx)
Experience with Building Automation System (BAS)
Experience in analyzing concepts or modernizing or renovating building mechanical systems
Experience in analyzing and designing engineering systems, site surveys, inspections and technical assistance
Experience in preparing plans and specifications or technical reports
Experience in evaluating, implementing or managing energy Efficiency Performance Projects as proposed by the Federal Building Initiative program (FBI)
Experience in energy accounting or being a Certified Monitoring and Verification Professional (CMVP)
Experience in conducting energy audits or assessment in buildings or industrial facilities
Experience in conducting studies or projects relating to mechanical and/or electrical equipment or systems in buildings or industrial facilities
Experience with energy management or building systems and equipment or energy efficiency technologies related to buildings or industrial facilities
Experience extracting, organizing and synthesizing data and providing recommendations relating to energy.
Experience in Project Management

Willingness to work flexible hours including overtime
Some positions may require the ability to travel by different modes of transportation to remote locations that may involve long and difficult travelling conditions with challenging climate conditions
Some positions may require a valid driver licence from a province or territory in Canada
