- Serving as a functional advisor to the regions/head office on issues relating to occupational health and safety.
- Recommending and providing assistance to the regions/head office in conceptualizing and implementing occupational health and safety strategies.
- Responding to issues raised by managers and occupational health and safety committees/representatives.
- Identifying occupational health and safety related training needs, developing training tools to address needs and delivering of the same.
The intent of this process is to staff six (6) permanent positions in various regions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff positions with various language requirements (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB or Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC ) and/or various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting appointment, or assignment/secondment) within the Canada Border Services Agency.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard.
NOTE: Whenever the minimum education standard is met through this alternative, it is met only for the position being staffed, and candidates must be re-assessed for future appointments or deployments where the manager has decided to use this alternative.
EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience* working in the field of Occupational Health and safety.
• Experience in providing advice and guidance to management with respect to occupational health and safety obligations.
• Experience writing reports or briefing notes.
• Experience in researching, analyzing and providing recommendations to resolve Occupational Health and Safety issues.
* Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately 2 years over the last 5 years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in the design, development and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety policies, programs or procedures in an operational environment.
• Experience in the development and delivery of training or information sessions relevant to Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience providing advice and guidance to health and safety committees and representatives.
• Experience conducting hazardous occurrence investigations.

Candidates will be required to pay for their own travel expenses.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
