Precision Agriculture Summer Student - Research Affiliate Program

Duties

Establishing/maintaining experimental plots in precision agriculture and horticulture, soil and tissue sampling, collection/compilation of experimental data, visual observation during UAV flights possible, etc. The intern may occasionally assist the team in other ways if needed.

Work environment

The intern will be working outdoors most of the time. The intern will have access to an office and a computer as well as to the laboratory at the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu Research and Development Centre. The intern will also benefit from the technical support of the precision agriculture team.

Ability and willingness to work in difficult environments (outdoors, cold, heat, dust, noise and farmyard manure);
Ability and willingness to tolerate the presence of irritants such as dust, pollen and spores. Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment or medication, which must not impinge upon the work to be performed;
Ability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends;
Ability and willingness to perform activities that require physical effort, such as medium to heavy manual labour that involves bending over and lifting heavy objects (up to 20 kg);
Possession of a valid driver’s licence

Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.
