The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
The intent of this process is to staff 1 indeterminate position in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and levels with various tenures and security profiles.

Essential Qualifications
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC1: An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to industrial mechanical systems.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in the repair, maintenance, or installation of mechanical systems associated with hangar doors and overhead doors.
EX2: Experience in the operation and maintenance of a variety of motorized or power operated lifts to reach elevated work areas; such as scissor-lifts and service platforms.

K1: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to hangar doors and overhead doors
K2: Knowledge of physics related to pulleys, gears, levers, hydraulics and pneumatics
ABILITIES/ SKILLS
AB1: Ability to communicate effectively orally

AB3: Ability to identify appropriate type of hand tool or testing device pertaining to hangar door and overhead door maintenance
AB4: Ability to read and interpret mechanical wiring diagrams
AB5: Ability to conduct preventative maintenance on hangar doors and overhead doors

Asset Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
AE1: Experience in the repair, maintenance, or installation of electrical systems associated with hangar doors.
AE2: Experience in the repair, maintenance, or installation of electrical systems associated with overhead doors.
AE3: Experience in the repair, maintenance, or installation of hydraulic systems.
AE4: Experience in the repair, maintenance, or installation of pneumatic systems associated with compressors.
AE5: Experience working in a military airfield environment.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OR1: Possession of a valid and unrestricted provincial Class 5 Driver’s licence.
Reliability Status security clearance
Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions such as extreme weather, confined spaces or heights (at least 50’) and physically lift up to 25 kg, when required
Must be willing to work overtime as required
Must be willing and able to be fit tested to wear a respirator
Must be able to obtain a departmental vehicle operators permit (DND 404)
Must be able to obtain a qualification/certificate for the current service platforms in use
