This is an anticipatory process. The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff these or similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff these positions and/or similar positions on an indeterminate, specified period, acting, secondment, or deployment basis.

EDUCATION
Graduation with an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, OR, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience *
*Acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience means successful completion of 2 years post-secondary at a recognized post-secondary institution AND 5 years recent training and/or work experience in a field related to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience consulting or collaborating with industry stakeholders, Indigenous groups, non-governmental organizations, co-management groups or other levels of government.
• Experience providing advice to, or briefing, senior management/officials on matters pertaining to programs, policy, governance, allocations or resource sustainability.
• Experience analyzing complex or sensitive issues related to policy, operational programs or service delivery.
• Experience writing proposals, position papers, briefing notes, action plans, management plans or similar documentation.
EDUCATION
Graduation with a post-graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in managing marine or inland fisheries or in the delivery of services pertaining to the Canadian fishing industry.
• Experience with cost-benefit or risk analysis to assess the socioeconomic impacts of proposed public policy or plans.
• Experience participating in multi-disciplinary teams or working groups.
• Experience presenting in public forums to industry stakeholders or special interest groups.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the key issues impacting the management of fisheries resources in Newfoundland and Labrador in the commercial, recreational, and indigenous fisheries.
Operational Requirements:
• Travel frequently within Newfoundland and Labrador and travel occasionally to other parts of Canada or internationally
• Work overtime, evenings and weekends, sometimes on short notice
• Operate DFO fleet vehicles or rented vehicles.
