Includes but is not limited to: Designing, layout, fitting, repairing, overhauling, modification, calibration and inspection of mechanical equipment and components for the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton.

Includes but is not limited to: constant exposure to noise, oil, dirt, dust, chemicals, irritants, fumes/smoke, confined space and vibration all of which require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Depending on the circumstances and the amount of PPE, certain levels of discomfort may be experienced.
The work involves occasional exposure to marine growth, welding flash, blackwater (sewage), animal droppings, poor lighting, extreme temperatures and noxious odours. Depending on the circumstance, certain levels of discomfort may be experienced.
Worker frequently works in adverse weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow, heat, and cold.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Possession of an acceptable certificate or diploma of apprenticeship in the area of mechanical trades.
Possession of a valid British Columbia or Inter-provincial Journeyperson Certificate in the area of mechanical trades
TRAINING:
Canadian Armed Forces Trades Qualification equivalent (QL 5)
EXPERIENCE:
Experience at a Marine Shipyard repairing shipboard mechanical systems
Experience repairing Marine Naval ship mechanical systems
Experience repairing Canadian Frigate mechanical systems
Experience repairing Canadian Submarine mechanical systems
Experience repairing 1st Level Canadian Submarine mechanical systems
Specialized experience in an industrial trade related systems and equipment
Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
English essential
