The Foreman position is part of a work unit responsible for maintenance of Coast Guard’s civil and equipment infrastructure, and supervises staff who perform work at the base or at field locations.
The key activities of the position include:
Planning, scheduling and coordinating the installation, maintenance and repair of CCG civil assets, structures and associated infrastructure.
Supervising staff by determining objectives and priorities, assigning work, evaluating employee performance, approving training plans, leave and overtime.
Establishing service levels with clients, tracking information on condition and costs of assets.
Ensuring the safety of employees and members of the public by promoting and implementing safe work practices.
Participating in teams at the regional and area level to provide input to management.
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) owns and operates the federal government's civilian fleet, and provides key maritime services to Canadians. As a Special Operating Agency of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), the CCG helps DFO meet its responsibility to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. The CCG also plays a key role in ensuring the sustainable use and development of Canada's oceans and waterways.

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) position on a full-time, indeterminate basis in Parry Sound, ON [GL-EIM-11] and one (1) position on a full-time, indeterminate basis in Prescott, ON [GL-COI-11].
A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures (i.e. on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis) in the Canadian Coast Guard.

Provincial trade certification, Electrician

Experience in supervising trades staff.
Experience in life cycle management of assets (such as planning, inspections and maintenance activities).
Experience providing advice and recommendations to supervisors or managers.

Provincial trade certification in a trade relevant to the position: carpenter, driver, crane operator, painter, etc.
Stream 2: Foreman, Fabrication Shop
Welding Supervisor Qualification – Canadian Welding Bureau (CSA Standards W47.1 and W47.2)

Recent* experience using Maximo, SAP or other AMS (Asset Management System) to report and track life cycle maintenance of assets. *Recent means within the last 5 years
Experience supervising multi-disciplinary groups.
