The RCMP hires public service employees in a wide variety of disciplines to support our police officers at detachments and offices. Public service employees play a critical role in delivering services to our communities and supporting our local, provincial and national policing priorities.

Intent of the process

Intent to fill 1 indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar term and/or permanent positions.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment, if applicable, will be posted on www.jobs.gc.ca in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Recent and significant* experience in providing workplace informal conflict management services (such as conflict analysis, conflict coaching, facilitated discussions, mediation, and group interventions).
* Note: Recent and significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related Informal Conflict Management activities for approximately two (2) years in the last four (4) years.

Experience in delivering training relevant to conflict management

Recent and significant experience* in providing advice to management on matters related to effective workplace conflict prevention or management.
* Note: Recent and significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related Informal Conflict Management activities for approximately two (2) years in the last four (4) years.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

English essential

Information on language requirements

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note: The course for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
AND
One hundred and sixty (160) hours of training in conflict management, applicable to a workplace setting, which must include forty (40) hours of mediation skills training.
AND
Forty (40) hours of group intervention training applicable to a workplace setting.

Degree equivalency

Knowledge of the informal conflict resolution processes and formal recourse mechanisms in the Federal Public Service.
Knowledge of the principles and approaches of interest-based dispute resolution.
Knowledge of legislation, policies and trends in human resources management

Completion of Conflict Coaching training with an evaluation of ‘competent’.

CERTIFICATION: Chartered Mediator designation from the ADR Institute of Canada, Inc.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status. The candidate must not have a Criminal Record. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Assessment for this process will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The cost to attend the assessment will be the candidate's responsibility. If you are currently employed with the Federal Public Service, please let us know your current group and level as well as your tenure and the Department you are working for.

External candidates may be eligible for the initial appointment relocation entitlement of up to $5000 if they are not currently a federal public service employee.

All communication relating to this process, including e-mail correspondence may be used in the assessment of qualifications.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies, similar positions, for term, permanent and acting, at full or part time hours within the area of selection.
