Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be created following this process, and used to staff permanent and temporary vacancies, of various tenures, within Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours, in Winnipeg, MB, and Burlington, ON.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation from a two (2) year diploma course in construction management, civil, survey, architectural technology or related building technology from a recognized technical institute.

Degree equivalency

Recent* experience in providing engineering support for infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair.
Experience in managing a budget for major projects.
Experience in managing the implementation of infrastructure projects.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD.

*Recent experience is understood to mean within the past three (3) years.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Language proficiency will be assessed by the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Knowledge of project management principles.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

Ability to analyze issues, assess impacts and develop options or solutions.
Ability to provide technical advice in support of the design of marine infrastructure.
Ability to prepare and present technical findings and project reports.
Ability to implement accepted investigative/inspection practices and procedures, in the context of a construction project.

Experience managing construction projects related to marine structures.
Experience conducting environmental assessments related to construction projects.
Experience conducting topographic surveys with GPS survey equipment.
Experience conducting bathymetric surveys.
Experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist in Canada.
Certification as a Project Management Professional.
