Duties

The Senior Director, Deposit Taking Capital is a key position for enabling OSFI to deliver on its mandate. As an integral member of the senior management team, the Senior Director, Deposit Taking Capital provides leadership, which supports the achievement of OSFI’s strategic objectives and priorities.

As the head of the Capital Deposit Taking unit, the Senior Director is responsible for strategically guiding OSFI’s efforts in evolving its capital and liquidity requirements so they adequately reflect financial and non-financial risks impacting the safety and soundness of Canada’s Federally Regulated Deposit Taking Institutions which include Banks as well as Trust and Loan Companies. This includes maintaining consistency and coherence of these requirements with an increasingly integrated domestic and international context.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
- A university degree with specialization in finance, accounting, actuarial science, economics, commerce, business or public administration, mathematics or other relevant area.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience in leading the development of financial and/or non-financial risk management policies.
- Significant* experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior executives on complex matters.
- Significant* experience at the executive level in managing human resources that entails building, mentoring, and coaching a diverse team of technical and professional staff.
- Significant* experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at the executive level.

* “Significant experience” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by continuously exercising the functions for a period of 5 years or more.

ASSET EDUCATION
- A graduate degree in finance, accounting, actuarial science, economics, business or mathematics.
- A professional designation such as CFA, CPA, FCIA or other relevant designation.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience at the executive level in a risk management function at a Canadian Federally Regulated Deposit Taking Institution.
- Experience providing advice and leadership on matters related to capital and liquidity standards and practices.
- Experience engaging with stakeholders internationally on matters related to the financial sector.

This is a non-imperative selection process.
