The employee will be responsible for applying experience, knowledge and skills to write ‘state-of-knowledge’ reports on various coastal ports of Canada to support the development of petroleum spill response plans. The employee will research, compile and review relevant existing information, data and other materials in the literature, internet and other appropriate sources about geography, oceanography, hydrography, petroleum products, handling facilities and transportation systems, as well as information about past petroleum spills and lessons learned from them. The employee will be responsible for writing and coordinating the editing, translation and preparation of the reports for publication on DFO and other web pages. Additionally, the position will require supporting others in coordinating the production of a short video on oil spill research, writing short information summaries on oil spill behaviour and research, and assisting with writing other information materials as required.
The intention is to staff one PC-02 position on a temporary basis for a period of approximately two years in Dartmouth, NS.

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience conducting literature reviews and compiling information and data on environmental science or oceanography.
- Experience writing technical reports or scientific publications.
- Experience giving technical or scientific presentations in meetings and workshops.
- Experience developing scientific content for web platforms or videos.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
- Experience with assessments of marine transport and port facilities for handling petroleum products.
