$16.49 to $24.77 per hour (Varies as per level of education and experience)

Work environment

The Sherbrooke RDC is AAFC’s only research centre dedicated exclusively to dairy and swine production research. The team in which the student will be integrated will focus its research on dairy cow management and nutrition factors aimed at reducing the environmental impact of dairy production while maintaining animal health and welfare.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

Ability and willingness to work overtime as required;
Ability and willingness to work in laboratories;
Ability and willingness to work in barns;
Ability and willingness to work with strong odours (manure);
Ability and willingness to work with large farm animals;
Ability and willingness to work in a confined environment, comply with instructions and follow established procedures;
Ability and willingness to work with human, animal or environmental samples that may contain unknown pathogens;
Ability and willingness to collect and/or handle a range of samples (including, but not limited to, feces, tissues, body fluids, organs, meat, fruits, vegetables, environmental samples, etc.) from production systems, slaughterhouses, processing plants, field trials and clinical trials;
Ability and willingness to work with strong acids and bases.
