Duties

Indigenous Liaison Officers are part of an Indigenous offender's case management team. They assist in identifying the unique needs of Indigenous offenders and assist Elders in establishing healing plans.They plan, develop, facilitate, evaluate as well they supervise cultural and traditional activities, projects and interventions for Indigenous offenders. They also have to provide reports and feedback within CSC. Moreover, Indigenous Liaison Officers often work with Indigenous agencies and communities to help offenders heal and eventually reintegrate into their home communities.

A pool of candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions of permanent or temporary tenures within the Correctional Service of Canada in the Quebec region.

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of secondary school or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with or for Indigenous communities or organizations and/or Indigenous Elders.

Experience using a computer (i.e. programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and/or Excel).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience with Indigenous teachings and values.

Experience working with Indigenous people in conflict with the law.
