Work environment

Candidates located in the National Capital Region will be working at a newly renovated, state-of-the art National Defence Headquarters Carling. This new campus provides National Defence with significant opportunities for modernization, and offers the Defence Team a secure, collaborative, and green workplace that promotes a healthy work-life balance. Located at 60 Moodie Drive, NDHQ (Carling) is situated on 360 acres in Ottawa’s west end. The site is close to two major highways, numerous bike paths, and accessible by public transit via dedicated bus routes. The complex consists of 10 newly-renovated buildings, inter-connected by a series of tunnels and passageways and includes new fitness facilities, designated recreational spaces, modernized offices equipped with the latest technology and various food services including Tim Hortons, Subway and Starbucks.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill the position of Teacher of French and English as a Second Language for a specified or indeterminate period in the National Capital Region.

As a result of this process, a pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions at the ED-LAT-01 group and level on an indeterminate or specified period in the department.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Experience teaching French as a Second Language to adults.
EX2: Experience in developing and implementing a training program.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

CERTIFICATION:
ACERT: Teaching certificate in French language (CELTA, C.A.E.S.L., PFL2 or equivalent)

EXPERIENCE:
AEX01: Experience using technology to deliver training (i.e. online or virtual teaching.
AEX02: Experience in distance learning.
AEX03: Experience in creating online content for distance learning.
AEX04: Experience teaching students with learning disabilities.

KNOWLEDGE:
AK01: Knowledge of the criteria used to assess the second language and the identification of levels (A, B, and C) by the Public Service Commission.

Degree equivalency
