Assessment accommodation

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EXPERIENCE:
For both GL-PIP-09 and GL-MAM-10:
- Significant* work experience at the journeyman Mechanic or Technician level in a service, maintenance or construction work environment.
- Significant* experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing heating or air conditioning systems.
- Experience in reading, interpreting and diagnosing electrical schematic diagrams as part of heating or air conditioning units.
- Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and specifications.

*Significant experience is defined as minimum of five (5) years.

Information on language requirements

EDUCATION (for the GL-MAM-10 only):
- Successful completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration and air conditioning field.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
GL-PIP-09: Certification as a Gas Technician (G1) issued and/or recognized by the Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA).

GL-MAM-10: Possession of a valid certification of qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic (313A) as issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, or similar license issued from another province with inter-provincial certification.

GL-MAM-10:
Experience in the repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
GL-PIP-09:
Experience in natural gas heating systems, including forced air and hydronic systems.

KNOWLEDGE:
For both GL-PIP-09 and GL-MAM-10:
- Knowledge of heating or air conditioning preventative maintenance practices.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by a province of Canada
- Willingness and ability to work overtime
- Willingness and ability to work weekends
- Willingness and ability to work on standby
- Willingness and ability to work at heights from elevated platforms, rooftops and ladders
- Willingness and ability to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
- Willingness and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools in the assembly of mechanical and electronic systems and sub systems
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as safely lifting and handling of up to 20kg loads
