At the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC), we are working to deliver high-quality impact assessments that contribute to informed decision making on major natural resources projects. The Agency’s intent is to staff positions in our Vancouver Regional Office, our Quebec Regional office and positions in Halifax, Ottawa and St. John's working within our National Programs sector.
All other regions and sectors will be recruiting on an anticipatory basis and will proceed with their evaluations when staffing needs are identified.
As a result of this process, a pool of qualified candidates will be created to staff similar positions at the PC-02 or PC-03 group and level on an indeterminate or specified period (acting, specified period appointment, assignment or secondment), with various linguistic profiles and security clearance requirements at the Impact Assessment Agency across Canada.
Candidates involved in this selection process may also be considered for an assignment, a secondment or an acting appointment of less than 4 months, while this process is being completed.

Essential Qualifications- You need to meet these!
Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Note:
1.The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
*Experience for the PC-03 level is gained from working approximately 3 years in this field.
Experience in environmental or impact assessment
Experience analyzing scientific issues
Experience writing or reviewing science based documents
Competencies:
Showing initiative and being action oriented
Working effectively with others
Thinking things through
Demonstrating integrity and respect
Adaptability
Effective written communication
Effective oral communication
Asset Qualifications - Not required but nice to have!
Experience:
Experience in group facilitation*
*Group facilitation: Leading a multidisciplinary team with different opinions and expertise to discuss a common topic and reach a consensus.
Experience in making presentations to stakeholder groups or the public
Experience consulting with Indigenous communities
Experience interpreting or applying laws or regulations
Experience in providing advice or recommendations to decision-makers.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the principles and practices related to environmental or impact assessment.
Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s principles and practices related to Indigenous consultation.
