Assessment accommodation

Please note that we are only looking to staff positions in certain regions for the moment, as indicated under the “Intent” section of the poster, below.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to provide references who are reachable AND willing to complete the reference check within a short timeframe (3 business days).

Duties

The successful applicant will be travelling to several First Nations communities in their assigned region to complete Threat Risk Assessment and inspect the existing physical security components that protects the tangible and intangible assets in the Health Facility, Nurses Residences and auxiliary buildings. They will also provide recommendations to reduce or mitigate security threats in these facilities, complete Health and Safety inspections and provide recommendations to reduce or mitigate hazards in the workplace to all responsible authorities. They will also provide mentoring/training to First Nation Security Guards, provide Safety and Awareness training to Nurses, Health Directors and Maintenance personnel.

Intent of the process

The immediate need for this process is to staff positions in Sioux Lookout, and Thunder Bay (Ontario), Winnipeg (Manitoba), and Montreal (Quebec). There is an anticipatory need to staff positions in Halifax (Nova Scotia), Gatineau (Quebec), Edmonton (Alberta), and Regina (Saskatchewan). A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within Indigenous Services Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience providing advice and guidance to stakeholders and management in the resolution of security OR health and safety issues.

Recent* and significant** experience in conducting security inspections or compliance audits.

Experience reading architectural plans or reports and specifications in order to provide security advice.

Experience providing mentoring/training or information sessions.

*Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.

A post-secondary school diploma in Facilities Management, Security Management, Police Foundation or another specialty related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience working with First Nations, Inuit or Métis organizations.

Work Place Health and Safety training for Health and Safety committee members.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas.
Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or irregular hours on short notice.
