Duties

The mission of CED’s Communications Directorate is to build awareness of the department’s programs and expertise, manages its reputation and highlights the successes of its clients.

The digital communications officer (community manager profile) develops or adapts relevant content for all of CED’s digital channels in order to create an unmatched online experience for our clients and partners.

Position responsibilities :

• Implement multiplatform editorial strategies
• Research new topics or relevant angles to be suggested to the communications advisor and manager
• Write and edit content using creative ways to integrate keywords and hashtags
• Publish and program content on the various electronic platforms
• Perform quality control on published content
• Find and adapt visuals according to the specifics of each platform
• Engage and manage conversations on the various platforms
• Plan posts in advance using an editorial calendar
• Measure and analyze social media usage data and write monthly performance reports
• Monitor CED’s online and social media presence to identify opportunities
• Stay up-to-date on news, trends, the work of other sectors of the organization and recommend new approaches

EDUCATION
▲ A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

▲ Recent* and extensive** experience using social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or YouTube in a professional context.
▲ Recent* and extensive** experience writing or editing communications products or web content intended for internal or external audiences.
▲ Experience with measurement and analysis of social media usage data.

• Experience developing and implementing strategies and tactics related to social media in a professional context
• Experience writing digital content according to best practices in plain language
• Experience using social media planning and reporting tools (e.g., Hootsuite, etc.)
• Experience using the Government of Canada’s Web Experience Toolkit (WET)
• Experience using web creation software such as Dreamweaver and graphic design/video software such as Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, etc.
• Experience providing digital communications advice to clients
