EDUCATION
Graduation with a Master’s or Doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialisation in clinical, forensic, or counselling psychology or in another psychological speciality relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* experience in the provision of psychological services (including mental health services) to offenders within a correctional environment (institutional or community) or psychiatric hospital setting.
*Significant is normally defined as having at least 3 years of experience.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of ethical principles guiding the professional practice of psychology.
Knowledge of principles and applications of psychological services (including mental health services), such as assessment, treatment, programs and crisis intervention.
Knowledge of the issues and trends affecting the management and delivery of mental health programs.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and Correctional Service Canada policies (e.g. Commissioner’s Directives).

ABILITIES
Ability to plan, organize and direct the provision of mental health services.

Operational Requirements:
Willingness to work outside normal or business hours with little or no notice.
Willingness to travel as required.
