Duties

Provides editorial services and proofreading of technical documents for the National Aircraft Certification Branch, for the communication and distribution of safety publications to inform aircraft owners/operators and maintenance personnel of potential safety hazards.

Manages the Annual Airworthiness Information Report (AAIR) program related to the Canadian Aviation Regulation (CAR) 501 by defining the requirements, communicating these to all aircraft owners and ensuring compliance with regulation.

Determines user requirements, coordinates the implementation of system enhancements, and performs user acceptance testing for various Continuing Airworthiness Web Information System (CAWIS) modules related to the AAIR program and modules related to the publication and distribution of safety related documents to the aviation community worldwide.

Work environment

The position being staffed is located at 159 Cleopatra Drive in Nepean, Ontario.

Intent of the process

We intend to staff 1 position indeterminately.

A partially assessed or fully assessed pool of candidates may be created to staff this position or similar positions with various tenures within Transport Canada at 159 Cleopatra Drive in Nepean. The pool will not be shared with other Transport Canada branches or departments.

Education:

Post-secondary education or specialized training/courses in the field related to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Essential Experience:
EX1: Experience in researching information and formulating recommendations.

EX2: Extensive experience* in editing and proofreading complex texts written in English or French.

EX3: Experience in project management.

*Extensive experience (depth and/or breadth): refers to experience acquired through editing in a range of relevant areas. Such experience is normally acquired through full-time employment over a period of at least 2 years.
For the experience elements, a concise description outlining the nature and scope of the experience and the candidate’s substantive participation must be provided. This information will be used for screening purposes.

Abilities:
A1: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
A2: Ability to work effectively under pressure.
A3: Ability to manage a heavy workload in order to plan and set priorities to ensure deadlines and objectives are met.

Asset Experience:

AEX4: Experience coding with HTML.

Willing and able to work overtime on short notice.

A "P" in the linguistic profile indicates a requirement (written comprehension and written expression) for technical or specialized language skills. The P level will be assessed during the written exam period. This is not assessed through the Public Service Commission.
