Working alongside other health care experts on a supportive and inter-professional team, you will provide leadership in quality nursing care and practice for First Nations people in Saskatchewan and help ensure that they have the best health outcomes. Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) works collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a term, acting and/or permanent basis in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing, or Master’s Degree in a relevant field, from a recognized post-secondary institution (1)(2)(3)

Note (3): Graduates without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing but who have a Master of Science (Applied) in Nursing obtained from a recognized post-secondary institution where a degree in Nursing is not a prerequisite, will be considered to meet the educational requirement for this position
Occupational Certification
Current registration in good standing as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada, willingness and eligibility to become registered in Saskatchewan at time of appointment
Experience
• Recent and significant* community health nursing experience
• Experience in the design and delivery of a primary health care program
• Experience leading a health team for example, public health, acute care, home care or other related fields
• Experience providing strategic advice and recommendation to senior management on health or social policies
• Experience representing an organization, negotiating and building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

Experience:
• Experience managing funding arrangements with First Nations or other organizations, such as grants or contribution agreements
• Experience liaising and maintaining relations with Indigenous organizations and/or government partners
• Linguistic proficiency in an Indigenous language spoken in Saskatchewan

Operational Requirements
• Availability for regional and national travel is required. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed aircraft, and occasionally into remote northern locations
• Availability for flexible or irregular work hours
• Willingness and ability to work overtime
• Overtime in the event of a Public Health emergency or outbreak
• Secret Security Clearance
• A valid class V driver’s license
• Professional registration, without conditions or restrictions, with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)

Candidates must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.
