We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.
You will be required to show how you demonstrate the essential qualifications (i.e. Education, Experience and/or Occupational Certification) for the initial screening through your resume, cover letter, and/or in answering online screening questions. It is NOT sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Rather you must clearly demonstrate HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Information on your described skills, experience, etc. provided in a cover letter or screening questions should be supported by your resume. Failure to provide the above information in the format required may result in your application being rejected from the process.
The client organization will accept applications on-line only. All job applications must therefore be submitted through the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS). Following are some of the benefits associated with applying on-line.
* Applicants can create a profile and a résumé that can be used when applying for other processes without having to recreate a new application each time.
* Applicants can modify their application/résumé at anytime BEFORE the closing date indicated on the job advertisement.
* Applicants can verify the status of their applications, at any time.
* Applicants can be notified electronically of tests or interviews and results.
* For some jobs, applicants will find important information, namely the job questionnaire and a complete statement of merit criteria that are only available when applying on-line.
To submit an application on-line, please click on the button "Apply Now" below.
Persons with disabilities preventing them from applying on-line, are asked to contact 1-800-645-5605.
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
The Canada Border Services Agency is committed to establish and maintain a skilled workforce that reflects the diversity of the population it serves. Qualified candidates who self-declare on their application as a member of an Employment Equity group (Aboriginal peoples, persons with a disability, members of a visible minority group, or women) may be selected for appointment to fulfill an organizational need.
When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order. Please indicate in your application the reason for which you are entitled to work in Canada: Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
(You will be required to provide ORIGINAL proof of your Canadian citizenship or your eligibility to work in Canada if your application is accepted. It is your responsibility to provide this information when requested.)

The Information, Science and Technology Branch (ISTB) of the CBSA supports the management of Canada's border through the strategic development, application and oversight of information management, technology systems and the delivery of science services.
The ISTB's responsibilities include information management; information technology infrastructure and solutions; planning and portfolio management; and science and engineering.
ISTB’s workforce is diverse and consists of employees from multiple disciplines, with the CS group making up the majority. The Branch believes in investing in their workforce and supporting employees in their career development and has developed a 3-year People Strategy that identifies various initiatives to support professional development, training and recruitment strategies as well as employee well-being. The focus is on having the right people with the right skills in the right place at the right time and making ISTB an employer of choice.
One such initiative is the Computer Systems Professional Development Program (CS PDP) for our entry level CS-01 employees. This development program is a competency-based approach to developing employees by helping them to obtain the necessary skill sets to progress to the next level. It offers a standardized toolset of self-assessments, learning plans and evaluations to provide clear learning objectives and constructive feedback on performance. The program also provides a fair and transparent process for participant advancement to the CS-02 level. As an employee of the CBSA, you will be eligible to apply to this guided learning and development opportunity at its next intake.
