Duties

- Participates in the development and implementation of the new program Analysis of Companies’ Technical Information for Vehicles and Equipment (ACTIVE), including pilot projects with the industry and the development of processes and procedures supporting new legislative requirements.

- Once regulations are in place :
o Provides support and guidance to companies on legislative requirements, processes and policies, and more.
o Conducts review and data analytics on technical information received from vehicle and equipment companies on a regular basis to detect potential safety related issues.

We are looking to staff the position of Information Analyst/ Recalls officer in the new program entitled Analysis of Companies’ Technical Information for Vehicles and Equipment (ACTIVE) within the Information Integration and Analysis group. Our team also works closely with Defect Investigation and Recalls Division and vehicle and equipment companies. Once the regulations are in place, ACTIVE will collect, review and analyze a large volume of technical information on a regular basis to identify safety risks in vehicles and equipment. The program will also promote companies’ compliance with TC’s new legislative requirements.

The one-story building located in the National Capital Region’s Gatineau (Hull sector) is near a major highway, 8 km from Parliament Hill and against traffic congestion. Express and regular bus routes stops, including service to and from downtown Ottawa, is within walking distance. Our facility backs onto the Trans-Canada nature trails and bike paths and offers free parking to employees.

Intent of the process

The intent of this job opportunity Advertisement is for an indeterminate position GT-04 with a linguistic profile: English essential located in the National Capital Region ( NCR) in Gatineau. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established within Transport Canada and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (including indeterminate / term / assignment / secondment/ acting/ deployment) and/or various linguistic requirements (bilingual imperative CBC/CBC; BBB/BBB, and English essential) and/or various security profiles (reliability, secret).

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Education
AET1: Three-year program at an Institute of Technology specializing in mechanical engineering or automotive technology, or equivalent.

AET2: Four-year program in Business Administration -Automotive Management.

AET3: Licensed as an automotive technician in a Canadian Province or Territory.

AET4: Training in a field related to the position such as, but not limited to, data analytics.

Degree equivalency

Experience
AEX1: Experience reviewing and analyzing data, technical documents or electronic files to detect anomalies, inconsistencies, etc., in the information

AEX2: Experience developing and/or working in databases.

AEX3: Experience in project management.

AEX4: Experience with data analytics software such as Microsoft Power BI or other similar software.

Knowledge
AK1: Knowledge of current automotive safety technologies.
