Salary, Allowances, and Benefits:
In addition to salary, you are entitled to an isolated posts allowance. This can range from $22,000 to $36,000 per year, depending on the number of dependants, geographic location and whether the accommodation is provided by the Crown. You are also entitled to vacation travel allowance of approximately $1,500 twice a year for you and each eligible dependant.
As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance.
The Directive on Government Contracts, Including Real Property Leases, in the Nunavut Settlement Area ensures that government contracting in the Nunavut Settlement Area will meet the Government of Canada’s obligations under Article 24 of the Nunavut Agreement. This directive came into effect on December 20, 2019.
Indigenous Services Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat, Crown and Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada and Public Services and Procurement Canada are working together to implement the Directive with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), Nunavut economic development agencies, the Government of Nunavut, and other government departments. This works includes, but not limited to increasing participation by Inuit firms in business opportunities in the Nunavut economy, improved capacity of Inuit firms to compete for government contracts, and increasing Inuit employment at a representative level in the Nunavut work force.
As a part of this exciting work, we are looking for an individual to join our team who will:
• Help lead the implementation of the Directive, assist in coordination, plan and perform outreach to external stakeholders in coordination with other departments;
• Help in the development and delivery of supporting materials, and outreach to Inuit and Inuit firms in Nunavut;
• Be a point of contact for Inuit, Inuit firms, and NTI on Canada’s contracting process; and
• Help advise other departments, and federal stakeholders on Inuit business capacity and operating conditions.

The Nunavut Regional Office (NRO) of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) supports the positive and productive relationship shared between the Government of Canada, the Government of Nunavut,and Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, and works with a number of territorial stakeholders, such as Regional Inuit Associations, Institutions of Public Government, to implement the Nunavut Agreement. NRO staff work with Nunavummiut to manage land and water and mineral resources, remediate contaminated sites, and provide a variety of programs.
The NRO team has diverse types of positions and is committed to the overall objective of reaching a representative workforce as prescribed under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement by finding suitable and innovative ways to recruit, retain, train, develop and advance Nunavut Inuit employees in their careers.

Here is what you must have to be selected:
• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Experience in authoring reports, briefing notes, presentations, or correspondence for the use of decision makers.
• Experience in analysis of financial information in order to provide advice to management or clients.
• Experience in planning, coordinating, or conducting presentations and/or workshops with various internal or external stakeholders.
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
The following criteria will be assessed using your resume and online screening questions. However, they are only assets, so you do not need to meet them to be selected, but preference could be given to those who have them.
Here are the assets we are looking for:
• Experience working in a Northern environment.
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, specifically as it relates to Inuit culture and values.
• Experience working in Grants and Contributions, specifically as it relates to government programming (federal, provincial, or territorial).
• Experience in managing or administering funding agreements or programs in a regional setting.

• Knowledge of Indigenous or northern issues.
• Knowledge of Treasury Board of Canada’s Directive on Government Contracts, including Real Property Leases, in the Nunavut Settlement Area.
• Knowledge of program management principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to establish, meet deadlines and work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
• Ability to make presentations to varied audiences.

The following condition must be met on taking up the position and maintained throughout the employment:
• Willingness to travel to small, remote communities via small aircraft.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Reliability Security Clearance and might have to get a Medical Clearance prior to taking up the position.
