The work environment for this position is mostly in an office environment. You will have the opportunity to travel to different parts of Newfoundland and Labrador to visit sites and vessels. Modes of transportation include car, planes, small boats or ships. During these visits, you will have contact with regional staff, contractors, and municipal authorities for the purpose of gathering and analyzing information concerning emergency situations.
The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff this or similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the Newfoundland and Labrador Region on an indeterminate or specified period (term) basis.

Education:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the positions such as sciences, law or criminology, Emergency Planning or an employer-approved alternative*?

Experience:
Experience in providing advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and/or committees.
Experience in resolving difficult* situations.
*Please note that difficult is defined as interacting with others in a tactful and effective manner when faced with a sensitive or tense situation in order to preserve productive working relationships.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Asset Qualifications:
Experience in providing advice and guidance on sensitive issues in the field of Security or Emergency Management.
