The immediate intention of this process is to staff one indeterminate position. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established from this process to staff similar positions at Elections Canada with varying tenures (such as indeterminate, specified period, acting).

EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in English literature, linguistics or translation or other speciality relevant to the position.

Notes:
1.Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

2.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant** experience in English-language editing of general or specialized texts (including those of an administrative, financial or legal nature) for various audiences.

Recent* and significant** experience in French-to-English comparative editing of general or specialized texts (including those of an administrative, financial or legal nature) for various audiences.

Experience in writing in plain language in English.

Experience in providing expert English linguistic advice to various stakeholders.

*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the past five years.

**Significant experience is defined as the breadth, depth and complexity of responsibilities normally associated with having performed these duties on a regular basis over a period of three years within the last five years.

ASSET EXPERIENCES:
Significant* experience in supervising employees, including training new employees, reviewing their work and giving feedback to ensure quality control and knowledge acquisition, as well as addressing performance issues.

Recent** experience in translating from French to English.

*Significant experience is defined as the breadth, depth and complexity of responsibilities normally associated with having performed these duties on a regular basis over a period of three years within the last five years.

**Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the past five years.
