Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one indeterminate position in Edmonton, Alberta. A qualified pool of candidates may be established from this process to staff identical or similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Term, Deployment, Assignment, Secondment.)

EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*
*The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources to provide advice, guidance and make recommendations to both management and employees
2. Experience in Emergency Management (for example: planning of table top exercises, shelter in place training, fire warden experience, Business Impact Analysis creation, Business Continuity Planning, etc.)

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completion of post-secondary program with specialization in Emergency Management or Preparedness (ex. Degree, diploma or certificate)
2. Knowledge of the Policy on Government Security as it applies to emergency management and business continuity
3. Experience in providing advice and guidance to internal and external clients with regard to emergency management and emergency preparedness
4. Experience in the delivery of presentations OR public speaking
5. Experience in working with Business Continuity Plans
6. Experience in providing emergency management training
7. Experience in coordinating, planning and delivery of table top exercises for emergency scenarios
8. Experience in organizing emergency drills such as fire drills

Experience will be evaluated against depth and breadth of activities, and the complexity and diversity of the activities. Top down consideration of experience may be used.

A random or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the advertised appointment process.

Candidates from outside the Federal Public Service will be required to pay for their own travel expenses for various phases of testing/assessment.

Public service employees found qualified in this process may be considered for acting, assignment, deployment or secondment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
