The intent of this process is to staff three (3) indeterminate positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions across Canada within Environment and Climate Change Canada with various tenures (Term, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Indeterminate, Deployment) and various language requirements which may vary according to the position being staffed.
A pass mark will be established for each qualification. However, achieving the pass mark is not guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process. A cutoff score and a top-down approach may be used at any step if there is a sufficient number of candidates to meet immediate and anticipated staffing needs.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
N.B Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
(E1) Experience in the development of government policy or strategies involving broad, complex, multi-dimensional public policy challenges and issues, ideally in the environmental field.
(E2) Experience in establishing networks of contacts, partnerships and collaborative working arrangements within and/or between federal departments and with external partners such as provincial governments or non-governmental organizations.
(E3) Experience in contributing to the development or review of Memoranda to Cabinet and related Cabinet business processes, and systems.
(E4) Experience in planning, leading and conducting strategic policy research initiatives, for example those dealing with sustainable development or other environmental issues and concerns.
(E5) Experience in leading the preparation of briefing materials, including the coordination of input from internal or external stakeholders.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
(AE1) Experience in working in intergovernmental affairs, or on files with intergovernmental components.
(AE2) Experience in leading the work of a team, assigning work, measuring outputs and assessing performance of these individuals.
