The Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) is responsible for conducting basic training for officers and non-commissioned members of the Regular Force both in garrison and under austere field conditions. Its mission is to train and professionally develop the next Canadian Armed Forces generation morally, mentally, physically, and intellectually. Every year, more than 5000 people start their military career at CFLRS, while 3000 military members train via Distance Learning. CFLRS employs more than 600 military and civilian personnel.
CFLRS is the only training establishment within the Canadian Armed Forces that has the unique mandate to transition civilians to officer cadets and recruits into the profession of arms, and to ensure they are capable of making the proper cultural transition from civilian to military life. The First-Aid Cell ensures that the training the candidates get is professional and complete before moving on to their next phase of training.
