Work environment

The Regional Director General (RDG), Nunavut is the senior departmental executive in the Region, responsible for implementation of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada programs, services, and policies in Nunavut, in the context of the policies established by the Government of Canada and legislation.

Intent of the process

► Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada / Indigenous Services Canada is committed to having a skilled and diversified representative of the population we serve. The intent is to staff positions with an Indigenous person in order to strategically increase indigenous representation in the department. As such, first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as an Indigenous person.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience in leading the delivery of programs and services.

- Experience in the provision of strategic advice and briefings to senior management (Director General level or above) and Ministers on complex issues*.

- Experience in representing an organization during the consultation or negotiation of agreements with various stakeholders, including territorial and/or provincial governments and non-governmental entities.

- Experience in managing human** and financial*** resources.

*« Complex issues » is defined as having two of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on the program delivery for the public service.

**Human Resources: Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work and developed staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised in each position.

***Financial Resources: Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size on the budget they managed directly.
