Assessment accommodation

Duties

Tailored to ensure Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) compliance with legislative occupational health and safety, regulations and administrative procedures. In collaboration with management, unions and employees, implements and coordinates the departmental occupational health and safety program.

The program aims to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses through;
• education
• program evaluation and investigations
• providing advice and making recommendations
• managing and monitoring injury/illness compensation/claim processes
• ensuring compliance by implementing departmental policies and procedures.

EDUCATION
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative of an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in the field of Occupation Health and Safety.

An acceptable combination is defined as a minimum of successful completion of two years of secondary school and training courses in Occupation Health and Safety and a minimum of 12 months experience working in the Occupation Health and Safety field.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Recent experience* in administering occupational health and safety programs.
• Recent experience* in carrying out inspections related to occupational health and safety in a workplace.
• Recent experience* in providing advice and guidance on occupational health and safety legislation, regulations and standards.

*Recent experience is defined as the last 3 years.

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part II, Health and Safety Legislation Governing Federal Jurisdiction Workplaces and the Relevant Codes, Regulations and Standards.
• Knowledge of the principles of prevention in occupational health and safety, including Accident Investigation Practices.

CERTIFICATION
Health and Safety Professional Certification or Designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in managing accident and return to work files (Claims Case Management practices) as it relates to the Federal Government.
• Experience in conducting Ergonomic Assessments.
• Experience in delivering Training
