This is founded on a principle of a renewed, nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous Peoples, based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership.
Indigenous Services Canada is committed to the identification of the best models for delivering improved services to Indigenous Peoples and improve accountability to Indigenous Peoples for the quality of services delivered, including:
- work to leverage the ingenuity and understanding of Indigenous Peoples as well as experts from the private sector, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments and international experts on service delivery. It will be expected for you to assess how Indigenous Peoples experience the delivery of government services on a day-to-day basis and identify ways to improve delivery that are holistic, community-based, and put the needs of the person first.

DATA COLLECTIONS OFFICER
With the creation of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and the transformation of education, this position will be part of a team that will support First Nations to build a strong, community-based, linguistically and culturally-appropriate education system for their students. Our vision is to support First Nation control of First Nation education by establishing a nation-to-nation relationship that strengthens First Nation education, focusing on sufficient, predictable and sustained funding. Key activities of the position will include supporting the First Nations with reporting using the education data system, conducting data research and analysis, and providing data analytics to our team members, partners and management. This position will require an individual with leadership skills, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team.

SOCIAL SUPPORT OFFICER
Working with the Social Programs and First Nations Relations Treaty 8 Directorate, this position will be part of a team that provides funds to First Nations to deliver key social programs on reserves. It is an exciting opportunity to balance between managing the collection of data submitted by First Nations, conducting data research and analysis, and providing financial reports to internal and external stakeholders. This position will require an individual with leadership skills, attention to detail, excellent client service, and the ability to effectively summarize complicated data.

EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in business administration, accounting, finance or another specialty relevant to the position being staffed or a combination of education, training, and experience defined as successful completion of 2 or more years of experience in a relevant field supplemented by relevant training or successful course work.

For the acceptable combination of education, training and experience, candidates must provide a list of completed courses as well as a description of relevant experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in conducting financial and/or statistical analysis, including researching and analyzing program data

- Experience in using intermediate Excel functions and/or preparing Excel reports

- Experience in developing guidelines and/or procedures to suit the organization’s needs

- Experience in briefing and providing advice to supervisors, management, or executives
