The intent of this position is to staff one (1) English Essential indeterminate position in the Environmental Emergency team (Stream 2). In addition, there may be one (1) or more anticipatory position(s) in Stream 1 and/or Stream 2. This selection process may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various Conditions of Employment, and/or various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, assignment, secondment and/or deployment) within Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Education (All streams):
ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience (All streams):
EX1 - Experience* in implementing technical or scientific projects related to environmental protection.
EX2 - Experience* in drafting, analyzing, or interpreting technical, scientific, or regulatory documents for educational or informational purposes.
*Experience is defined as the depth and breadth of workplace experience spanning approximatively one year.
Asset Qualifications:
Education (All streams):
AED1 - A master’s degree or a post-graduate degree from a recognized post secondary institution in a science relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience (All streams):
AEX1 - Experience in implementing programs aiming at compliance with regulations or other regulatory instruments related to environmental protection.
AEX2 - Experience in communicating environmental information to the general public or to specific public groups.
AEX3 - Experience in communicating with First Nations, Inuit, or Metis audiences.
AEX4 - Experience building relationships and/or partnerships with external stakeholders, such as provinces, Environmental/non-Government Organizations (ENGOs), industry and or/ industry associations, or other government departments.
AEX5 - Experience in working (ex: design, operation, maintenance, inspection, or certification) on chemical processes or in the industrial or municipal environmental field.
AEX6 - Experience with the application or administration of requirements of the federal Environmental Emergencies Regulations.

Stream 1:
K1 - General knowledge of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 and its related regulations, guidelines, codes of practice, or notices, OR general knowledge of the provisions of the Fisheries Act which Environment and Climate Change Canada administers.
Stream 2:
K2 - General knowledge of federal and/or provincial legislation, regulations, and/or policies that relate to environmental emergencies in Canada.
