Performs engineering, project management, life cycle management and support for facilities, processes and equipment, and technical advice pertaining to infrastructure, buildings, facilities and related systems for the department and external clients.
The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. The intent of this process is to staff 2 indeterminate position in Wainwright, Alberta.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of post-secondary education in engineering technology program related to the duties of the position (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical or electrical) OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
EX01: Experience in providing engineering support services for planning, design, construction, operation or maintenance.
EX02: Experience conducting inspections for a variety of structures.
EX03: Experience in application of regulations for building systems.
EX04: Experience in the use of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
EX05: Experience in project management.
EX06: Recent* and significant** experience in the execution of work as well as in the management of contracts in the construction field.
EX07: Significant** experience in leading multi-disciplinary technical teams or working groups.
EX 08: Experience in construction designing, specification writing and/or detailing and preparing working drawings in accordance with the National Building Code of Canada and other affiliated codes and standards.
* Recent is defined as experience obtained in the last five (5) years.
** Significant is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities on a regular basis, for the experience factor in question, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.

AEX01: Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering or technical environment.
AEX02: Experience in one or more of the following:
• Drafting
• Preparation of drawings using AutoCAD
• Contract Administration and Inspections
• Preparing construction documents for public tender.
AEX03: Experience in government contracting procedures.
AEX04: Experience in major capital renovations.
AEX05: Experience in planning annual and multi-year realty asset programs.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to work overtime as pre-authorized.
Willing and able to obtain and retain a DND 404.
Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
Willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment associated with a construction and maintenance environment.
