Intent of the process

The immediate intention of this process is to staff one indeterminate position.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various linguistic profile : English or French Essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB and CBB/CBB with various tenures (temporary or permanent).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Notes: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967, who became an EC on June 22, 2009, and who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his or her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in history, political science, international affairs/relations, public administration, law, sociology, economy or any other field related to the duties of the position

Master’s degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in history, political science, international affairs/relations, public administration, law, sociology, economy or any other field related to the duties of the position

Degree equivalency

Experience in providing recommendations to management (manager or above).

Experience writing briefing notes in public service

Knowledge of national and international democracy issues

Professional working proficiency in Spanish to, for example, welcome unilingual Spanish-speaking delegations

Willingness and ability to travel across Canada and/or abroad as needed, including by plane.

A top-down screening approach may be undertaken. Applicants who meet the essential experience criteria may be ranked according to the depth and breadth of experience they possess. Only the top ranking candidates may be invited to the assessment phase of the process. A cut-off score may also be used at any stage of assessment.
