Assessment accommodation

This inventory may be used to staff identical and/or similar positions within DND with various locations, various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, security levels, employment types and tenures which may vary according to the position being staffed.

Successful completion of a diploma in the geomatics field or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the geomatics field.

Degree equivalency

E1. * Current experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to manipulate and analyze geospatial data

E2. * Current experience in performing vector feature extraction

* Current is defined as having attained the experience within the last five (5) years.

Definition: Geomatics includes the tools and techniques used in land surveying, remote sensing, cartography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), global-navigation satellite systems, photogrammetry, geophysics, geography, and related forms of earth mapping.

Definition: Geospatial is a term used to define the collective data and associated technology that has a geographic or locational component.

Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in the geomatics field.

Degree equivalency

AE1. Current experience working within a Department of National Defence (DND) environment such as the Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE) or the Hydrographic Services Office (HSO)

AE2. * Current experience working with GeoMedia Professional software

AE3. * Current experience working with CARIS software

AE4. * Current experience in the interpretation of aerial or satellite imagery

AE5. *Current experience in using bathymetric data

* Current is defined as having attained the experience within the last five (5) years.

AK1. Knowledge of the Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP) and the MGCP Technical Reference Document (TRD)

AK2. Knowledge of International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards for Electronic Nautical Charts (ENC)

AK3. Knowledge of NATO standards for Additional Military Layers (AML)

AK4. Knowledge of nautical chart production and maintenance

AA1. Ability to apply image interpretation skills for the purpose of vector feature extraction
