Work environment

The RCMP National Operations Centre (NOC) looks like a NASA theatre. It is an impressive Top Secret environment that is equipped with computers and telephone systems where the employees work in teams to help ensure the safety of Canadians.

Essentially, the work performed by the employees at the National Operations Centre consists of monitoring systems and coordinating the dissemination of classified information from government departments; the distribution of situational updates to senior management, other police forces and government agencies. Employees also perform a variety of after hour support for law enforcement agencies and RCMP units requiring various checks on police databases; and administrative functions internally and to various agencies in support of the security operations.

Intent of the process

A pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various bilingual linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment, if applicable, will be posted on www.jobs.gc.ca in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment prior to May 21, 2020 (deeming date), the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.
