Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to establish a fully or partially assessed pool of qualified candidates. The results of this process may be used to staff similar or identical positions for future vacancies of various tenures at Employment & Social Development Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

OR

Two years post-secondary education at a recognized post-secondary institution AND a minimum of two (2) years managing a multi-disciplinary team in a workplace.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Ex. 1 *Experience planning and managing projects (including such activities as work plans, scheduling, status reporting, risk management and identifying project activities)

Ex. 2 *Experience in providing analysis, advice and recommendations to management** on ongoing or emerging issues in the areas of real property and accommodations.

Ex. 3 *Experience in managing Human Resources directly or as part of a project team.

Note: Managing human resources may include, but is not limited to, the process of supervising or developing others and being responsible for the results they deliver. You must indicate that you were responsible for addressing performance issues either as the direct supervisor or as the lead for a project. You must also demonstrate that you were responsible for developing work plans or establishing performance objectives for employees or team members.

Ex. 4 *Experience in one or more of the following:
• managing financial resources in a real property project or an operational environment; OR
• managing budgets and exercising forecasting controls in real property; OR
• managing procurement including contract documentation.

Please be explicit about the level and complexity of any projects mentioned.

Ex. 5 Experience in office planning and interior design.

*Experience is defined as being one in which the person’s primary responsibilities include these duties and refers to the breadth and depth as well as complexity of tasks that could be expected to have been obtained by carrying out the functions for approximately 12 months.

**Management denotes the first level of management.

Education:

Ed 1. A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in studies related to Real Property (such as real estate, architecture, engineering and interior design).

Ed 2. *Accreditation from an industry recognized Real Property Institute or association (e.g. BOMA, CoreNet, IFMA, RPIC).

Ed 3. Project Management Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or other related certification.

Ed 4. Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in studies related to Human Resources Management.

*Accreditation is defined as having obtained official credentials or certification.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Ex 1. *Experience in planning and managing real property /accommodations services in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization.

Ex 2. *Experience in utilizing project management principles including the facilitation and coordination of projects and general project management phases.

Ex 3. *Experience in cost benefit, and risk analysis and mitigation strategies.

Ex 4. *Experience writing and presenting reports.

Ex 5. *Experience negotiating options.

Ex 6. Experience* in procurement and/or asset/material management.

Ex 7. Experience* in managing a virtual team.

Ex 8. Experience* using Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Microsoft Project; and / or computer Assisted Design and Drafting (CADD) systems. Please specify which systems you have used and in what capacity.

Ex 9. Experience* managing a real property project management team.

*Experience is defined as being one in which the person’s primary responsibilities include these duties and refers to the breadth and depth as well as complexity of tasks that could be expected to have been obtained by carrying out the functions for approximately 12 months.
