The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is part of the core public service administration named in Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and is also subject to the PSEA. This being said the TSB is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB has a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.
The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members, including the Chair. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
The intent of this process appoint or deploy a fully qualified candidate and establish a pool of partially assessed candidates. Similar positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements, location and security requirement.
NOTE: There is an immediate need to staff a position located in Richmond, BC.

Your résumé.
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence – Aeroplane Category with valid Group I Instrument Rating.
OR
Possession of valid Canadian Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating.
Experience
Experience in report writing or report reviewing.
Experience in supervision of human resources.
Experience as pilot-in-command on a variety of single or
multi-engined aircraft.
Various language requirements
Includes following profiles: English Essential and Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC et CCC/CCC

Knowledge
Knowledge of the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act.
Knowledge of Canadian and international air transport systems.
Knowledge of the regulatory framework applicable to Canadian civil air transportation, and the responsibilities of state investigation authorities and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Knowledge of the aviation industry such as trends and developments in aircraft design, maintenance and operations.

ASSETS:
Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized Canadian university with acceptable specialization in a discipline relevant to the position.
Experience
Experience in areas related to aircraft accident investigation.
Experience in project management.
Experience in safety analysis and safety communications
Experience in managing relationships with stakeholders associated with the aviation programs and with other government departments.

Possess a valid driver’s license in Canada.
Agree to deploy to accident sites where there may be exposure to disagreeable and difficult working conditions and to extreme climatic conditions.

Agree to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
Willingness to be available on standby, on a rotational basis.
