This is an anticipatory process, the purpose of which is to develop a pool of qualified candidates for positions in Environment and Climate Change Canada in Vancouver, BC and/or Whitehorse, YT only. The positions may have various tenures and security requirements. The selected candidate must be willing to relocate to Vancouver or Whitehorse.

Education (All Streams):
ED-01: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position which could include, but is not limited to, biology, ecology, or environmental sciences.
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
All Streams:
EX-01: Recent and direct experience* leading or working in a team developing, coordinating, or implementing environmental studies, projects or programs.
EX-02: Recent and direct experience* providing written scientific or technical advice or recommendations on environmental issues, programs or projects.
EX-03: Recent and direct experience* collaborating** on environmental issues with officials from the federal government, provincial or territorial governments, Indigenous groups, municipalities, non-government groups, or industry.
Stream C (Senior Marine Program Officer - Vancouver, BC)
EX-04: Recent and direct experience* in assessing, interpreting and applying science expertise related to environmental protection or conservation, such as sediment quality, soil quality, contaminated sites, geochemistry, sampling design, sediment management, freshwater or marine ecology.
EX-05: Recent and direct experience* in applying statistical or computer-based methods to process and interpret scientific data.
*Recent and direct experience is defined as the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having conducted a range of activities over a minimum period of two (2) years within the past four (4) years.
**Collaborating means working jointly on an activity, especially to produce or create something. Applicants must demonstrate their role was to collaborate and not just participate or attend.
Asset Education (All Streams):
AED-01: Graduation with a Masters degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in a relevant field.

AEX-01: Experience*** supervising staff.
AEX-02: Experience*** in Indigenous or stakeholder consultations.
AEX-03: Experience*** contributing to development of environmental policy or guidance material.
AEX-04: Experience*** with scientific techniques and methods used to assess, predict, mitigate and monitor environmental impacts.
AEX-05: Experience*** applying federal, provincial, or territorial environmental assessment or other environmental regulatory processes.
Stream A (Senior Environmental Assessment Officer – Vancouver, BC):
AEX-06: Recent and direct experience* reviewing, evaluating or preparing scientific or technical data, information or advice in the context of assessing environmental impacts and risks from large projects (e.g. infrastructure, energy, mining) subject to federal, provincial or territorial environmental assessment processes.
Stream B (Senior Environmental Assessment Officer - Whitehorse, Yukon):
AEX-07: Experience*** in participating in environmental assessments of projects subject to the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act.
AEX-08: Experience*** in working in the Yukon with territorial government departments, federal departments or Indigenous groups.
Stream C (Senior Marine Program Officer - Vancouver, BC):
AEX-09: Experience*** in designing or implementing biological, chemical, or physical studies (e.g. sampling or carrying out analyses) in aquatic environments (marine or freshwater).
AEX-10: Experience*** in assessing and interpreting contaminants and contaminant pathways in environmental media (e.g. sediment, soil, marine or freshwater, air).
AEX-11: Experience*** in reviewing disposal at sea activities.
AEX-12: Experience*** providing scientific and technical expertise applicable to the management of sediments or other waste materials in the marine environment.
AEX-13: Experience***in publishing scientific articles.

*** Experience will be evaluated in relation to duration, relevance, complexity and level of responsibility of the tasks that were carried out (depth and breadth). As such, it is important that the candidate clearly identify their role and involvement in examples cited.
