The successful candidate will be required to maintain and develop a repository of weapon system models for Defence Research and Development Canada. The candidate will have to document, verify and validate existing or new models. There will also be the possibility of participating in the acquisition, analysis, and reduction of experimental data.
Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) is the national leader in defence and security science and technology. As an agency of Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND), DRDC provides DND, the Canadian Armed Forces and other government departments as well as the public safety and national security communities, the knowledge and technological advantage needed to defend and protect Canada’s interests at home and abroad.
The intent of the process is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures in the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the development, design, implementation and realization of mathematical models of physical phenomena.
Experience in writing technical documents.
Experience in software application development.
Programming experience in languages such as Visual Basic, C, C ++, C # or FORTRAN.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of analytical and experimental techniques related to aerodynamic characterization.
General knowledge in stochastic simulations of physical phenomena.
General knowledge in flight dynamics.

EDUCATION
Master's or PhD degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics engineering.
EXPERIENCE
Work experience in the design and realization of mathematical models of physical phenomena in Matlab or Simulink languages.
Experience in developing and conducting experiments and analyzing data.
Experience in the execution of studies in science and technology with potential applications in the field of defense.
Experience in publishing results of technical and / or scientific work.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge in radar system, seeker, inertial navigation system, satellite navigation system.
Knowledge in data processing from sensors (force, pressure, deformation, displacement, radar, etc.).
Knowledge in principles of ballistics.
Knowledge in guidance and control of a weapon in flight.
Knowlege in military equipment (platforms, weapon systems, soldier system, etc.).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing and able to travel inside Canada and abroad;
Must be willing and able to spend 2-3 weeks outdoors to conduct field measurement campaigns in Canada and outside Canada, as required.
