Stream 1 & 2 - EC-06 & EC-07 Positions (Policy)
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Stream 3 - EC-06 and EC-07 positions (Economics)
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Economics (Bachelor, Masters or PhD). If this degree is not at the graduate level then graduation with a graduate degree from a post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position is also required.

Degree equivalency

Stream 1 – EC-06 Positions (Policy)
E1 - Experience in conducting policy research, policy analysis or policy development and in formulating policy options, positions or strategies.
E2 – Experience in providing policy advice and recommendations, including oral and written briefings, to senior management on complex* or high-profile issues.
E3 - Experience in planning, conducting or managing policy initiatives, programs or projects that require integrating and balancing different viewpoints.
E4 - Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with representatives of Indigenous Peoples, stakeholders, or other external organizations.

Stream 2 – EC-07 Positions (Policy)
E1 - Experience consulting and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including Canadian government departments, provincial governments, non-governmental agencies, or Indigenous Peoples.
E2 – Significant** experience in conducting policy research, policy analysis or policy development and in formulating policy options, positions and strategies.
E3 – Significant** experience in providing policy advice and recommendations, including oral and written briefings, to senior management on complex* or high-profile issues.
E4 - Experience in planning, conducting or managing policy initiatives, programs or projects that require integrating and balancing different viewpoints.
E5 - Experience in managing human and financial resources

Stream 3 - EC-06 and EC-07 positions (economics)
E1 – Significant ** experience conducting complex* economic analysis on industry.

Complex* issues involve multiple stakeholders and linkages, wide ranging implications on different aspects of a sector, and the integration of specialized information.

Significant** is defined as the depth, breadth and complexity of experience normally acquired performing duties in a similar role for a period of at least three years.
