The purpose of this process is to establish a pool of partially qualified candidates to fill future Communications Officer (Creative Services) positions at Environment and Climate Change Canada, with various security and linguistic requirements. EDUCATION
All Streams:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution which is relevant to the field.
Notes:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE
All Streams:
- Experience in the development or supporting the delivery of communications products.
- Experience working with clients, partners or stakeholders.
- Experience in editing photos with Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop.
Stream 1: Video
- Recent and significant experience in filming video with professional video cameras, including Electronic News Gathering (ENG), and digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) type cameras.
- Recent experience in professional lighting setups, for studio and on-location filming.
- Recent and significant experience in editing video projects with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.
- Recent and significant experience taking professional photos with digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras (i.e. headshots, event coverage, still life).
Stream 2: Graphic Design
- Recent and significant experience in creation of graphic design projects.
- Recent experience in the design and layout of a multitude of communications products such as reports, fact-sheets, infographics and social media posts.
- Recent and significant experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat DC.
- Recent Experience in creating ePubs.
For both streams, “recent” means within the last 6 months and “significant” means for a period of at least one year.

Stream 2: Graphic Design

- Knowledge of printing standards as they relate to graphic design.
