The Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) is the designated health care provider for Canada’s military personnel, delivering medical and dental services at military installations across Canada and overseas.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) position in Ottawa on an indeterminate basis with a linguistic profile of English Essential. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions with various language requirements within National Defence.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the province or territory of employment and a member in good standing in that province and willingness and eligibility to become registered, at the time of appointment, in the province where the position is located
EXPERIENCE
E1 – Significant* experience as a nurse in a community or clinical setting
*Significant is defined as at least seventeen-hundred (1,700) hours of experience in a broad range of related activities within the last two (2) years.
E2 – Experience applying the principles of communicable diseases management for infection prevention and control
E3 – Experience identifying risk of infections, environmental risks and/or communicable diseases
E4 – Experience applying policies, procedures and control measures
E5 – Experience conducting health assessment and intervention
E6 – Experience applying a systematic approach to critical thinking and decision making
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOP1: Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
AOP2: Certification in Community Health Nursing or Public Health Nursing
ASSET EXPERIENCE
E1 – Experience working in a Public or Community Health - Communicable Disease Control Program, Primary Care, or Occupational Health environment.
E2 – Experience resolving IPAC issues such as local risk of infectious disease outbreaks through early identification, investigation, contact tracing, preventive measures, and activities to promote safe behaviours.
E3 – Experience developing and promoting local IPAC and Community Health educational program for patients and staff such as information sessions, posters, pamphlets, and educational signage.
E4 – Experience in organizing and providing annual Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) education to promote compliance with IPAC policies. The education topics include:
a. Use of routine practices, chain of infection
transmission, and additional precautions;
b. Procedures for the proper donning and removal
of personal protective equipment (PPE);
c. Hand Hygiene; and
d. Biomedical waste management.
E5 – Experience conducting annual hand hygiene audit and housekeeping audit.
E6 – Experience monitoring, providing guidance and support clinic central sterilization processing staff on IPAC practices and maintain related records;
