Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff this or similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada on an indeterminate, specified period (term), acting, deployment, secondment, or assignment basis.

Education:
• Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience conducting studies, research or analysis of complex policies, management plans, agreements or contracts.
• Experience developing written materials such as but not limited to; letters, reports, agreements, contracts, briefing notes and Memorandums of understanding.

Asset Qualifications:

Asset Education:
• Masters or higher from a recognized university with a specialization in fields related to Business Administration (Commerce), Public Administration, Biology, Management of Natural Resources (terrestrial, marine or aquatic), Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or Economics.

Degree equivalency

Asset Experience:
• Experience in engaging with Indigenous client groups and/or other non-government stakeholder organizations such as fishing industry and/or other governments.
• Experience working in cross functional teams.
• Experience in management activities pertaining to the Fishing industry: commercial, Indigenous OR recreational fisheries. (Does not include recreational fishing for personal use)

Asset Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the key issues pertaining to the fishing industry and the management of the fisheries in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Organizational Needs:
• Selection may be limited to members of the following Employment Equity groups: Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, women

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness to travel
• Willingness to work overtime, evenings and weekends
